Cape Girardeau Teen facing charges as Adult Following July William Street Shooting
A 17-year-old local youth is facing multiple felony charges as an adult following a shooting investigation from mid-July. According to local judicial records, Robert Henry has been formally charged with assault, armed criminal action, and the unlawful use of a weapon.
The charges stem from an incident on July 12, when Cape Girardeau Police Department officers responded to emergency reports of gunfire in the 700 block of William Street. Upon arrival, investigators made contact with a victim who stated that a young male had brandished a firearm and opened fire directly at their vehicle.
Following an investigation, detectives secured and executed a search warrant at a residence on William Street. Law enforcement successfully located both the suspect and a firearm inside the home.
Henry is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility. Authorities confirmed he will remain in custody until he legalizes a bond or reaches the age of 18, at which point he will be transferred to an adult holding facility.
