Missouri Attorney General Charges 17 in $450K Statewide Medicaid Fraud Crackdown

17 people in Medicaid fraud cases, including those in Southeast Missouri, were charged with felonies by the Missouri Attorney General. Attorney General Catherine Hanaway claims that the fraud cases involve almost $450,000 in illicit activities throughout the state, including identity theft, fraud involving personal care attendants, and abuses in adult daycare billing. According to Hanaway, Maci Legrand and Christal Calhoun were accused of making false claims totaling $27,743.26 in southeast Missouri. The attorney general’s office claims that because of her criminal record, Legrand’s Good Cause Waiver was rejected, preventing her from acting as a caregiver.
